Sofia Vergara On Her Modern Family Pregnancy Suit: ‘It’s Horrible!’

Sofia Vergara loves her job playing Gloria on ABC’s “Modern Family,” but the pregnancy suit she’s sporting for the upcoming season is a little less enjoyable.

“It’s horrible,” she told Access Hollywood’s Michelle Beadle on Tuesday in New York City as she made a promotional appearance for DietPepsi.com’s new contest (she’s a spokesperson for the brand) to win a makeover with the actress’ stylist, and more.

“But it’s amazing to have that belly,” she continued. “It’s really hot, it’s really uncomfortable. Yeah, I really feel pregnant, but it helps to get in character, because literally you can’t bend.”

Sofia is once again up for a Best Supporting Actress award at the Emmys (her third nomination) and she told Michelle she still hasn’t gotten over being nominated and going to award shows.

“For me, it’s a fun night. I love dressing up. I love bringing in my family. Last year I brought like 14 people with me. This year, we’re 18. It’s crazy. [It] gets crazier and crazier,” she said. “Everybody wants to come! So for me, it’s a party.”

Recently, the brunette bombshell Tweeted out a link (via her WhoSay account) to a photo of the actress as famed comedian Lucille Ball and she explained how the moment happened.

“It was Julie Bowen who took that picture, actually. We were getting ready for some promotion pictures for ‘Modern Family,’ and the whole cast is dressed like a different TV show character from [a] long time [ago], and they told me if I wanted to do Lucy, [I could], and I got very excited,” she said.

Asked by Michelle if she could do Lucille Ball’s famous “I Love Lucy” whine, Sofia declined with good reason.

“Her voice? I sound more like Ricky Ricardo,” she laughed, referencing her thick, Colombian accent. “But it was great for me to transform.”

“Modern Family” returns to ABC on September 26 at 9/8c.
