Stars Wish Regis Philbin The Best On Twitter As He Leaves ‘Live!’

Regis Philbin bid morning television farewell on Friday with last appearance on “Live! With Regis and Kelly.” The 80-year-old TV icon has co-hosted the long-running morning chat show for 28 years.

Many stars – including Katie Couric, Donald Trump, former co-host Kathie Lee Gifford, Tony Danza, Alan Alda and Meredith Vieira were in the studio audience on Friday – and more sent their well-wishes to Regis via Twitter.

Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush wrote, “REGIS!!! The King! The greatest chat show host ever. I love you and look forward to many more moments together!”

Piers Morgan Tweeted, “Congratulations #Regis – great man, great star, great career. Loved working with him on America’s Got Talent.”

Senator John McCain sent his best, writing, “So long Regis – thanks for the memories!”

Some of “The Real Housewives” also chimed in. Former New York City castmember Jill Zarin wrote, “Watching #regisandkelly last show. Crying. Why?? We r all getting old that’s why,” while New Jersey star Melissa Gorga, Tweeted, “Omg, tears are running down my face for Regis! We love you!! Xo”

Actress Julie Benz, wrote, “Can’t believe its Regis Philbin’s last day….. thank you for filling our mornings with laughter!!”

Funnyman Howie Mandel said the small screen would forever be changed by Regis’ exit.

“The end of an era. Television will never be the same. I’ll miss you Regis,” he Tweeted.

Rachael Ray agreed, writing, “Mornings will never be the same. There’s only one REGIS!”

Regis’ co-host Kelly Rippa perhaps said it best, simply writing the universal online sign for sadness, ” :-(”
