‘SVU’: Raul Esparza & Ice-T Tease Big Drama In Season 16

Season 15 of “Law & Order: SVU” was a wild ride for fans – and the drama will continue in Season 16.

Over the course of the season, Det. Benson (Mariska Hargitay) became a sergeant, the show said goodbye to Captain Cragen (Dann Florek) and Det. John Munch (Richard Belzer), Det. Rollins (Kelli Giddish) had a gambling addiction relapse and almost lost her badge, Lt. Murphy (Donal Logue) took over the division, and Benson was put through horrifying near-death trauma at the hands of serial rapist/murderer William Lewis (Pablo Schreiber).

Despite the insanity of Season 15, Ice-T (Det. Tutuola) and Raul Esparza (A.D.A. Rafael Barba) say there’s even more craziness on the way for Sgt. Benson in Season 16.

“Benson has a very big, life-changing event take place for her, which I think is gonna last for a while,” Raul told Access Hollywood at the NBC Upfronts in New York City on Monday. “She might make some choices that are really gonna change her life.”

And the actor hinted that Benson’s not the only member of the “SVU” team going through challenges.

“There’s some stuff going on with Amaro that I think is really interesting,” he added, referencing Det. Nick Amaro, played by Danny Pino.

Added Ice-T, “Amaro and [Rollins]. Both of them. But… it’s really hard for us to give you a nugget because they don’t give us a nugget. We don’t know much about what’s going to happen. That makes it fun for us too.”

The actor/rapper said he and his fellow “SVU” stars are usually kept in the dark about plot lines until table reads.

“People always ask me, ‘What’s going to happen to your character?’ I’m like, ‘I don’t know! About 10 days before you see it, [is when] I know,’” he said.
