Terrence Howard To Release Debut Album

Former Oscar-nominee Terrence Howard is releasing his debut album, “Shine Through It,” on September 2.

Columbia Records will issue the disc from the star, whose film credits include “Iron Man,” “The Brave One” and “Hustle & Flow,” for which Howard received an Oscar nod.

“Music has always been the road that leads to where I’m headed,” Howard said in a statement. “Film is my vocation, my 9 to 5. In the movies, I’m doing what somebody else is asking to do. Music is my own personal form of expression.”

Eleven original songs will feature on the album, which the Los Angeles Times has already called a “stylish, retro neo-soul album.”

“Shine Through It” was recorded in Los Angeles and Howard sings and plays guitar on his effort. Also joining him for the release are multi-instrumentalist Miles Mosley, tenor saxophonist Kamasi Washington, trumpeter Serafin Aguilar, keyboardist Kenneth Crouch and violist Tom Lea.
