The Carrie Diaries: Stefania Owen On Playing Carrie Bradshaw’s Little-Known Sister

Carrie Bradshaw has a sister?

In The CW’s “The Carrie Diaries,” premiering this January, fans are transported back to a time where Carrie lived with – and talked about – her family, and the new series features the legendary character’s little-known sister, Dorrit.

“They never address that Carrie had a sister in ‘Sex and The City,’ but in the books there’s actually two sisters, and Dorrit is one of them,” actress Stefania Owen (formerly of the Keri Russell and Will Arnett FOX sitcom, “Running Wilde”) told Access Hollywood during a recent visit to the show’s set.

“Dorrit is the opposite to Carrie,” Stefania continued of her character. “She’s the rebel child who creates trouble and she’s a fun character. She dresses like goth and emo, with emo makeup and lots of jewelry, so I’m having so much fun playing Dorrit.”

Stefania, 15, said her character may not have been in the HBO series “Sex and The City,” but she watched the show to prepare for her role in “The Carrie Diaries.”

“I love ‘Sex and The City.’ I’m more familiar with the movies, but after I heard I got the part of Dorrit, we got all of the DVDs of the ‘Sex and The City’ TV show, and I’m addicted to the TV show. It’s great,” she told Access.

With Dorrit the rebel of the bunch, Stefania has been having fun in the darker fashions of her character.

“The style on the show is great, especially because we’re in the ‘80s time period,” she said. “It’s been so fun dressing up and my character is gothic… in this ‘80s, gothic look and the costumes are great. Everyone’s so different.”

“My bracelets are so Madonna,” she added. “And I’m loving it.”

“The Carrie Diaries” premieres January 14 at 8/7c on The CW.
