‘The Hangover’ Gang Talks Sequel’s Raunchiness, Clinton Visit & Possible Third Movie

The stars of “The Hangover Part II” promise the second installment of the comedy is bigger, crazier and, of course, a whole lot dirtier!

“We definitely made a conscious decision to adhere to the formula of the first one, but outside of that, just the setting in Bangkok raised the stakes for everything that occurs,” Bradley Cooper (Phil) told Access Hollywood guest correspondent Jayde Donovan on Wednesday at the movie’s junket in LA.

Ed Helms said he checked what little dignity he had before stepping into the role of Stu again.

“When I read [the script] I was like, ‘This is insane!’” he explained. “If we’re going to make a sequel, we have to make it worthwhile, so it’s gotta be crazy, it’s gotta be insane!

“I’ve never had any dignity and so why start now?” he continued. “It’s kind of out there, [but] it’s not mean spirited.”

The film might have a kind and gentler side to it, but filming in Thailand was rough for much of the cast and crew.

“If you’ve ever had really bad food poisoning, then you know a tenth of what I endured,” Ed recounted of his off-camera issues. “I thought my body was going to explode, and it did!”

Zach Galifianakis (Alan) went unscathed by the movie’s battle with food poisoning.

“We didn’t really get sick,” Zach said, referring to Bradley. “My mom packed a lunch for me in the United States and I took it with me.”

Unfortunately, Ed’s food poisoning caused him to miss a much talked about a set visit.

“Did I mention I was sick? Because I was and it happened to be at the exact same time that Bill Clinton was visiting,” Ed said. “I had a lot of great policy initiatives I wanted to put on the table.”

While he dined with the cast, the guys explained – despite rampant rumors – the former President was never asked to make a cameo in the sequel.

“He came and spoke in Bangkok and Zach and [director] Todd [Phillips] and I went to see him speak and when we were at dinner we [asked if he wanted] to come by our set,” Bradley explained. “On the way to Vietnam, they stopped by.”

One cameo that did make the movie was an appearance by Ken Jeong’s nether regions with the return of the movie’s hilarious Mr. Chow character.

“Ken Jeong, Chow, gets naked a lot!” Bradley said. “On his own accord by the way, none of that was ever in the script.”

Ken told Jayde he was ready and completely willing to bare it all a second time on the big screen.

“We just gotta keep swinging for the fences… the only thing offensive about anything in ‘The Hangover’ would be if we did not swing for the fences and go for it, because, for me, to do anything mild would be offensive,” the actor said.

The sequel hasn’t even hit theaters yet, but the director revealed that he’s ready to make a third installment.

“It’s something that I would do in a heart beat because I love working with these guys so much,” Todd said. “We’ll see how the audience feels and how the actors feel, of course, it’s up to them, but if the desire is there, I have a really good idea for it where we really depart from this blue print of our first movie and really end it. I mean obviously it was conceived as a trilogy, so it would be nice to do it.”

“The Hangover 2” hits theaters on May 26.
