After the passing of Davy Jones on Wednesday, Access Hollywood caught up with Davy’s The Monkees bandmate Micky Dolenz, who is still reeling from the sudden loss of his friend.
“I just always remember playing in the pool and running around and kicking the soccer ball – [Davy was] that kind of a friend,” Micky told Access in an interview on Thursday in New York City. “He was like this brother I never had.”
Like Davy’s family, Micky said he was shocked by the news of his fellow musician’s heart attack, as there were seemingly no warnings signs.
“We were on tour last year, doing huge shows and we were very successful and everybody was in great shape. That’s why it’s such a shocker,” Micky said. “I thought he’d be the last one [to go] – he was the youngest one. He didn’t seem to have any problems.”
As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, on Thursday, the medical examiner’s office in Martin County, Fla., said an autopsy on the 66-year-old singer revealed his death was caused by a heart attack.
