‘The Vampire Diaries’: Enzo To Return, More From Damon & Bonnie

“The Vampire Diaries” Season 6 premiere concluded with some familiar faces and one very big question.

Fans of The CW show got to see Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) again, but just where are they?

Executive Producer Caroline Dries said the show will explore where they are, “in the next episode.”

“They’re discovering it along with the audience. We just wanted to kind of tease people and be like, ‘Don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten about them,'” she told TV reporters at a recent screening of the Season 6 premiere.

Over on the other side, Elena (Nina Dobrev) had to create Damon as “a figment of her imagination” in the episode, using special herbs that Luke (Chris Brochu) was providing. But, once she swore off them, she realized she didn’t want to deal with the pain of Damon being gone and asked Alaric (Matt Davis) to compel her to forget him.

“That’s a big part of the next episode,” Dries said. “What’s she’s asking of him isn’t just — I mean, Damon is his friend too, so it’s for her, it’s a hard decision, but for him it’s also like, ‘I don’t know if I can do this to my friend,’ so that will be his emotional journey in the next episode.”

Enzo was sadly missing from “TVD’s” return, but we will see the character played by Michael Malarkey next week.

“We’re gonna answer that question in the next episode, but he is up to something that is on point with what’s going on in the Damon/Stefan story,” Dries said.

While Stefan (Paul Wesley) said he had given up on Damon, Enzo’s reaction is very different and is something fans will shortly see.

“Enzo is going to turn out to have had a different reaction to Damon’s death,” Dries said. “He’s not gonna give up on him, and so his point of view on Damon is in direct conflict with Stefan’s point of view on it and so he’s gonna continue to be sort of like this love triangle with Damon, Enzo and Stefan, where Enzo and Stefan continue to be at odds.”

“The Vampire Diaries” airs Thursdays at 8/7c on The CW.
