“The Voice” said goodbye to two female contestants on Tuesday night’s show – Melanie Martinez and Amanda Brown.
Though both singers had proven to be fan favorites for Season 3, the hopefuls had an inkling they’d be going home.
“You kind of have this feeling in your heart. I definitely kind of just felt it and it’s totally okay,” Melanie told AccessHollywood.com’s Laura Saltman following “The Voice” on Tuesday. “I mentally prepared myself. I’m just really excited for moving ahead and just really continuing on with my career.
“I’m 17. I’m so young and I got to do this,” she continued. “I’m just really proud of myself for being able to just show who I am as an artist to everyone and inspire people… And I never thought I’d get this far.”
Amanda, who brought the house down on Monday with her rendition of Carole King/Aretha Franklin’s “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” also had a sneaking suspicion she wasn’t going to make the Final 4.
“I kind of had a bit of a feeling. I was checking iTunes and I was just like, usually that kind of says what’s going to happen,” she said. “And so, I was prepared either way and this was such an amazing opportunity and I’m so grateful to the fans that have supported me throughout this and who really have been kind of die-hard for me during this entire competition.”
Melanie and Amanda’s exit marked the end of the Season 3 road for coach Adam Levine, as he – much like fellow coach Christina Aguilera — no longer has any team members left in the competition. Despite the sad turn of events, the Maroon 5 frontman said he had a feeling of “contentment.”
“We do everything we together — we win together, we lose together,” Adam told Laura. “I actually think there’s a certain poetry to the fact that I lost them both tonight because I like that. It’s like Team Adam makes a triumphant exit.”
