Theon Greyjoy Gets A Sister & Daenerys Gets An Adviser In ‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 2

Theon Greyjoy is getting a sister in “Game of Thrones” Season 2.

The part of Asha Greyjoy will be played by Gemma Whelan, who appeared in 2010’s Benicio Del Toro film “The Wolfman,” Access Hollywood has confirmed.

As producers first confirmed to Access Hollywood at Comic-Con, Asha is being renamed.

Asha will now be called Yara Greyjoy.

Producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss told Access at Comic-Con that they were working on the name change because Season 1 already had a character named Osha – the wildling woman who survived after attacking Bran Stark in the woods, and was later taken in as a chained servant at Winterfell.

“We’re a little bit worried about the Osha/Asha sounding too close together,” David previously told Access

Asha – now Yara – is the sister to Theon, the former ward of Eddard “Ned” Stark, played by Alfie Allen (brother in real life to pop singer Lily Allen). When fans last saw him in Season 1, he was at the side of Robb Stark (Richard Madden), and helped defeat a band of Lannisters (including Nikolaj Coster-Waldau’s Jamie) in the battlefield.

And on the other side of the Westeros world, a new member of Daenerys Targaryen’s (Emilia Clarke) camp has been cast.

As first reported by Westeros.Org, British actor Nonso Anozie will play Xaro Xhoan Daxos, a wealthy merchant who takes in Daenerys, the members of her khalasar (the Dothraki that stuck with her after the death of husband Khal Drogo), and her knight, Ser Jorah Mormont (Iain Glenn), and becomes an adviser of sorts.

Coincidentally, Nonso actually stars as Artus in “Conan The Barbarian,” alongside Jason Momoa (Khal Drogo). That film opens in theaters on August 19.

The new castings join previously confirmed new faces – Liam Cunningham as Davos, Stephen Dillane as Robert Baratheon’s heir and brother – Stannis, Dutch actress Carice van Houten as the red priestess Melisandre, Gwendoline Christie as Brienne, knight to Renly Baratheon, and “Tudors” actress Natalie Dormer as Margaery Tyrell, Renly’s wife.
