Tia Mowry Hardrict & Tamera Mowry-Housley Talk Growing Up In Hollywood, Having Their Kids On TV

Twin sisters Tia Mowry Hardrict and Tamera Mowry-Housley grew up in front of the camera, and they credit their parents, and having each other, for why they turned out just fine.

“I think it’s because we have a great support system. We have someone that can keep us accountable,” Tamera told Kit Hoover and guest co-host Michelle Beadle on Wednesday’s Access Hollywood Live.

“You’re talking about our parents,” Tia chimed in.

Tamera said that these days, she thinks some parents in show business just don’t set boundaries with their kids.

“They wanna be their best friends/groupies,” Tamera said. “They forget that are they kids. It doesn’t matter how much money they have, it doesn’t mean you stop parenting your child.”

“But not only that, I think what was really great was I’m there with my sister,” Tia added. “I’m going through the same things she’s going through.”

“She checks me,” Tamera said.

Tamera revealed that their mom set the money they earned from working as children aside.

“She was like, ‘OK, this is how much you guys have, but you can’t touch it until you are 18,’” she explained.

Both women are now parents themselves, and their little ones are featured on their show, “Tia & Tamera,” which returns to Style on July 14 at 8/7c.

Asked about how they feel about having their own children on television, the twins said they were fine with it.

“We’ve been in front of the cameras for a very, very long time and I feel like we’ve turned out fine,” Tia said. “As long as they are protecting them.”

“And I think as long as there’s a balance, we can control it,” Tamera added.
