Twilight’s Stephenie Meyer Feels ‘Really Bad’ For Robert Pattinson, Jennifer Lawrence

Stephenie Meyer’s life has slowed down significantly since the 2012 release of the fifth and final “Twilight” franchise installment – and the author is thrilled to say goodbye to all of the hype.

“It’s really relaxing, actually,” Stephenie told Access Hollywood at the “Austenland” premiere in New York City on Monday, when asked about her post-“Twilight Saga” life. “It got bigger than I ever expected, and while that was kind of fun, it was also really overwhelming.

“Life is a lot more normal now and I appreciate that,” she added.

When asked by Access if the author (who is now trying her hand at producing) ever feels sorry for “Twilight” star Robert Pattinson, she replied, “Oh, all the time!”

“I don’t think anybody thought it was going to be like that. It’s gone crazy,” she said. “Hopefully it quiets down for them too.”

Stephenie said she also feels for Jennifer Lawrence, as the Oscar-winning star is beginning to experience the same fan-obsessed fame, due to her role as Katniss Everdeen in “The Hunger Games” franchise.

“I just saw an article today about Jennifer Lawrence and how she’s kind of having to deal with how crazy it is and it’s starting to really bother her, as down-to-earth and as sweet as she is,” the author said. “Nobody’s meant to live under that kind of scrutiny – it’s just too much. So I feel really bad for her, how the success has kind of ruined the lives of the people in it.”

Adding, “I think that’s terrible.”

“Austenland,” starring Keri Russell, Jennifer Coolidge and Jane Seymour, hits theaters on September 27.
