Tyra Banks Welcomes First Child Via Surrogate: ‘Our Miracle Baby’ Is ‘Finally Here’

Tyra Banks’
dream of motherhood has come true.

The
supermodel and TV personality has welcomed her first child, a son, via
surrogate, she announced on Wednesday.

In a sweet
Instagram post, Tyra revealed the name of her “miracle baby” and
thanked the “angel of a woman” who carried him to term.

“The best present we worked and prayed so hard for is finally here,” the 42-year-old wrote on Instagram, captioning a cute photo of a striped baby’s hat.

“York Banks Asla, welcome to the
world,” she added.

The little one is Tyra’s first child with her photographer
boyfriend Erik Asla, and takes after both of them already, she said.

“He’s got my fingers and big eyes
and his daddy Erik’s mouth and chin,” the former “America’s Next Top
Model” host described.

As previously reported on
AccessHollywood.com, Tyra has been open in the past about her fertility issues.

The mogul said on her now-canceled
daytime talk show “FABLife” in September that she had put off having
children when she was younger. Once she decided she was ready to become a mom,
however, it was more difficult than she’d expected.

“When I was 23 years old, I used to tell myself, ‘In
three years I’m gonna have kids.’ Then I turned 24. ‘In three years I’m gonna
have kids.’ And then just every single year I kept saying that,” she said
at the time. “And then, after a while, it’s like, ‘OK, now I want to’ –
and it’s not so easy.”

While
celebrating York’s arrival, Tyra shared kind words for those with similar
experiences.

“We pray for everyone who struggles
to reach this joyous milestone,” she wrote in her post.
