“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” star Ellie Kemper is
pregnant.
“I have big news, I’m pregnant,” Ellie told
“The Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday night’s show.
Ellie is expecting her first child with husband Michael
Koman.
The actress told Jimmy she was in the early stages of her pregnancy when she was finishing shooting her Netflix series, which will be released on the streaming network on
April 15. She ended up telling her boss, Executive Producer Tina Fey, when she read a scene in the script that called for her character, Kimmy, to take on an amusement park attraction.
“We had a table read and I saw that my character was
supposed to be on a roller coaster,” she said.

“It was still very early on, but I felt like a pregnant
lady on a roller coaster is not ideal so I did — I had to tell my boss, Tina
Fey,” Ellie told Jimmy, adding, “I told her before I told my
mom.”
In order to avoid the scene, the two came up with a little
fib.
“Because it was still so early on we decided, oh well,
we’ll just tell people I have back injury and that’s why I can’t ride the
roller coaster,” Ellie said, noting she had a hard time pulling it off.
“I could not act like I had a back injury. I’m an
actress presumably,” she laughed.
