Volleyball Gold Medalist Kerri Walsh Jennings Ready To Grow Her Family

Kerri Walsh Jennings is back home in the U.S.A. after winning gold at the London Summer Olympics in women’s beach volleyball with her longtime teammate Misty May-Treanor, and she’s hoping to grow her family before the next summer games.

“My husband and I — we’re in it,” Kerri told Access Hollywood Live’s Billy Bush and Kit Hoover of the couple’s plans to add another child to their family of four. “I feel like I’ve been resisting nature the past two years because I wanted to get pregnant so bad and my body’s been yelling at me, but I had this goal as well — to win gold in London — and you know, now it’s time to go. It’s go time!”

Kerri, and her husband, fellow volleyball star Casey Jennings, have two children – Joey, 3, and Sundance, 2.

“We want to expand our team,” she added.

And Kerri said Misty is working on expanding her own family (with Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Matt Treanor) too.

“She wants it and she deserves it. Her and her husband, Matt Treanor — they’re ready. They put it on hold so she could make this run with me to London. And that’s a big commitment,” Kerri said, appreciating her teammate’s sacrifices. “It’s hard being a woman when you have a career, you have to put it on hold, especially when you’re an athlete, when your career window is this big anyway. And so she made this commitment to finish out her career and now… she needs a baby.”

While Kerri hinted she’ll be back for the next summer games in Brazil, the volleyball star said she doesn’t expect Misty to return to the court for a shot at a fourth consecutive gold medal.

“I really believe that there is zero chance. I was shocked she came back this time,” Kerri said. “I know, it breaks my heart… I don’t want to put any pressure on her. I think I might [put pressure on her] in a couple of years, but I want her to have her life and she wants it so bad — to be a mom — and she’ll be on the team, it’s just probably not on the court with me.”
