Who Is Warren Boyd, The ‘Extreme Interventionist’ Rumored To Be Helping Bobbi Kristina Brown?

Benjamin Bratt’s A&E series, “The Cleaner” was based on drug interventionist Warren Boyd, who would undergo extreme measures to keep his clients sober. Many of these clients are Hollywood stars and now, Boyd’s name is being linked to Whitney Houston’s daughter, 18-year-old Bobbi Kristina Brown.

“When Whitney passed away, literally the first call they made was to Warren Boyd… to come here right away from Malibu, to be here with Bobbi Kristina,” Forbes.com columnist Roger Friedman told Access Hollywood. “And he’s been with her pretty much ever since. [My] guess is that he’s with her in Atlanta now.”

The self-proclaimed “extreme interventionist” was seen escorting Brown out of her mother’s funeral and, according to Freidman, the two have a special tie after Boyd helped Houston get clean on two occasions.

“The first time, [Whitney] was at an all-time low after the divorce and it was after the reality show with Bobby Brown and she was really a mess. And then last year again, when she was having trouble, he stepped in and he really got her into shape so she could make ‘Sparkle,’” Friedman said.

While Boyd won’t publicly confirm the names of the high-profile addicts he has helped, his name has been linked to the recovery of Mel Gibson, Robert Downey Jr., and Courtney Love, who Friedman claims introduced Boyd to Houston.

An ever-present figure by Love’s side throughout her many court appearances in the mid 2000s, his intervention tactics are unconventional to say the least. They include undercover stakeouts and physically extracting clients from their homes.

In the A&E special, “Extreme Interventionist: The Man Behind The Cleaner,” Boyd, revealed how his own 20-year past as an addict inspired him to help others.

And living up to the title of “extreme interventionist” means quickly and effectively getting an addict into treatment before it’s too late. That’s why he always carries with him a little black bag that contains everything Boyd needs to help someone go through the first 24 hours of detox.

Ashley Hamilton, the son of George Hamilton and Alana Stewart (and a Season 9 “Dancing with the Stars” contestant), said he was a hopeless heroin addict before his family called upon the services of Boyd.

“I did park a very large, tattooed, bald headed man in his living room, who doesn’t talk very much,” Boyd said in the special. “His job was not to go to sleep but to make sure Ashley didn’t do anything he wasn’t supposed to do or wasn’t healthy.”

“What am I going to do, call the police? ‘Yeah, I have like a pound of heroin in my house and I need you come over here,’” Hamilton recounted in the documentary. “You can’t, what are you going to do?”

“That worked pretty good. Ashley didn’t try to make too many moves,” Boyd added.

“Warren’s great for addicts ‘cause he can convince you, you need to get sober, and he will,” Hamilton added.
