Will Arnett & Ron Howard Talk Arrested Development’s Season 4, Life After Netflix

“Arrested Development” fans are counting the days until the return of The Bluth family when the series returns with the follow-up to its third season (which originally aired on 2006 on FOX) on Netflix – and the fun might not stop there according to series star Will Arnett and executive producer (and the show’s narrator) Ron Howard.

Will told Access Hollywood that reports of the third season of Netflix being just a one-off might not be the case.

“I don’t think that that’s actually true. I think that was something that came out the wrong way,” the actor, who played Gob Bluth, told Access at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences’ 22nd Annual Hall of Fame Induction Gala on Monday night.

“For the last couple weeks, that’s been kind of the story and now they’ve kind of come back to [say], ‘No it’s not exactly what’… I’m not… it’s kind of murky as to what they meant, but from what I understand, that’s not true,” Will said.

So could this mean more seasons on Netflix, landing on a network or even a big screen version?

Like Will, Ron Howard wasn’t super clear on all the details, but is confident “Arrested” will live on past the new Netflix Season 4.

“We’re still hoping to build to a movie and in a lot of ways… Getting the Bluth family on people’s radar, in a kind of contemporary way, [is] so we can move forward with it as a movie,” Ron told Access, explaining that the movie has yet to be green lit. “It’s not a happening thing, but it’s something that is being discussed.”

The show’s second life is something Ron credits to the loyal supporters of the series.

“Fans got the show back on the air. I’m hoping that the support will propel it on into the movie theaters as well,” Ron added. “I think the show’s always going to be defined by the fans. So, who knows what’s possible.”

“Arrested Development” drops on Netflix this spring.
