‘Will & Grace’s’ Eric McCormack Heading Back To TV In Dramatic Role On TNT’s ‘Perception’

Just days after NBC confirmed Sean Hayes was heading back in front of the camera in a comedy for the network comes news that his “Will & Grace” co-star, Eric McCormack, has a new series in the works too.

Production on Eric’s new series for TNT, the drama “Perception,” began this week, the network confirmed to Access Hollywood on Wednesday.

The show centers around Eric, who plays Dr. Daniel Pierce, “a neuroscientist and professor recruited to help the federal government crack difficult cases,” TNT said in a release.

“Perception” co-stars former “She’s All That” actress Rachael Leigh Cook as FBI agent Kate Moretti, a former student of Dr. Pierce’s, who brings him on to help with government cases.

“Reading Rainbow” legend and “Star Trek: The Next Generation” star Levar Burton will also have a recurring role as Paul Haley, a dean at the university.

Other actors set to star in the series include “The Day After Tomorrow’s” Arjay Smith and “The O.C.‘s” Kelly Rowan.

TNT ordered 10 episodes of perception, which hits the air in summer 2012.
