Zayn Malilk continues to play with the hearts of Directioners worldwide.

After quitting One Direction, the 22-year-old arrived at the Asian Awards on Friday with a newly shaved head, and proceeded to thank his former bandmates as he accepted the award for Outstanding Achievement in Music.

“I’m not really a guy of many words, normally, I don’t normally do the speeches. But obviously I have to say thank you for this. This is an amazing evening,” he said. “I’m massively honored to be here tonight. It’s incredibly humbling to accept on award on the same stage as some people that I’ve looked up [to] throughout my entire life…

“Tonight’s about thanks. I wanna thank God for allowing me to be able to do what my dreams were, I’d like to thank my mom and dad for making me Asian and allowing me to have some sort of effect on the Asian community – it’s a massive honor,” he continued. “I’d also like to take this moment to thank four of the best guys I ever met whilst being in the band and doing all the amazing things that we did. Some of the things that we did will stay with me for the rest of my life. Here’s to the future.”

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Zayn – who debuted his nose piercing on Thursday, stepped out at the awards without fiancee Perrie Edwards (he brought his mom instead).

Zayn hasn’t been seen at a red carpet event since the NRJ Music Awards in December, where he stepped out with then-fellow band members Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Harry Styles (Louis Tomlinson was not at the event).

As for the shaved head, Zayn hasn’t sported this look since his early days on “X Factor” way back in 2010.
