Andy Dick Arrested In West Virginia On Sexual Abuse Charges

Andy Dick was arrested in Huntington, West Virginia in the early hours of Saturday morning, a Western Regional Jail spokesperson confirmed to Access Hollywood.

According to the Huntington Herald-Dispatch, the comedian was arrested on sexual abuse charges following an incident after his performance at a local comedy club.

Dick reportedly faces two first-degree sexual abuse charges, both felonies. He was reportedly arrested around 4 AM on Saturday.

According to the paper, Dick, 44, allegedly groped two patrons of the bar Rum Runners hours after his appearance at the comedy club Funny Bone. The Huntington Police Department confirmed the arrest and charges to The Associated Press later on Saturday.

An eye witness told Access that Dick – serving out a three-year probation following a 2008 arrest on suspicion of drug possession and sexual battery that saw him wearing an alcohol monitor bracelet through last fall – was out carousing following his performance when the alleged incident occurred.

“[He had] one drink, then another, which led to another,” the witness claimed to Access, describing the alleged groping of a college-age male as the comedian joking around. “There was nothing sexual about it. Everybody was laughing and hanging out.”

However, according to the witness, the alleged victim didn’t find the incident funny – and called the police.

The account was contradicted by Tom Schaefer, owner of the Funny Bone, who told the Herald-Dispatch “nothing happened” at Rum Runners.

“We were at Rum Runners for literally 10 minutes. Nothing happened there except walking through the door and sitting at the bar,” Schaefer told the paper, adding that he would be posting the comedian’s $6,000 bail.

The actor could face up to five years in prison should he be found guilty of the charges.

The Western Regional spokesperson confirmed to Access that the comedian has made bail and was released from jail on Saturday afternoon.

Dick is expected to fulfill his scheduled Saturday and Sunday performance duties at the comedy club.

Access did not immediately receive a response to a request for comment from Dick’s reps.

The former “The Andy Dick Show” star has a checkered history with the law. Beyond his 2008 arrest, he was arrested on charges of drug possession in 1999.

Dick most recently appeared on VH1’s “Sober House.”
