Casting Call: ‘Lost’ Star Josh Holloway Close To Joining Tom Cruise’s Next ‘Mission’

Former “Lost” star Josh Holloway may have found his new “Mission.”

Holloway, who played easy-on-the-eyes con man Sawyer for six seasons in the hit ABC sci-fi series, is in final negotiations to join Tom Cruise for the fourth “Mission: Impossible” film, Paramount confirmed to Access Hollywood.

Holloway would be the latest star tapped to join the super spy cast. As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Jeremy Renner and Paula Patton have already signed on to star alongside Cruise.

Vladimir Mashkov will also join the cast, along with Swedish actor Michael Nyqvist (who played the protagonist in the original film version of “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo”). Nyqvist will step into the role of the franchise’s latest villain, according to Variety.

The project marks the first big budget feature film for Holloway, whose film credits thus far have included the indies “Whisper” and “Stay Cool.”

Production on the fourth “Mission: Impossible” movie is slated to begin in the fall with J.J. Abrams once again on board as producer and Brad Bird directing.

The studio is targeting a December 2011 release.
