He’s always been a colorful Twitter user, but country star Blake Shelton was forced to apologize after GLAAD suggested he went one Tweet too far.
Earlier this week, in his own twist on Shania Twain’s chorus in her song “Any Man of Mine,” Blake Tweeted that men should keep their hands to themselves and away from his rear end.
“any man that tries touching my behind, he’s gonna be a beaten, bleedin,’ heaving kind of guy,” Blake Tweeted — his version of Shania’s words: “Any man of mine better walk the line/Better show me a teasin’ squeezin’ pleasin’ kinda time.”
GLAAD, however, found “The Voice” coach’s Tweet troublesome and wrote back on the 140-character social networking service.
“No, @BlakeShelton – violent, anti-gay statements are not what a woman wants.”
Blake quickly responded on Twitter insisting he meant no offense.
“Hey y’all allow me to seriously apologize for the misunderstanding with the whole re-write on the Shania song last night…” he Tweeted on Thursday. “It honestly wasn’t even meant that way… I now know that their (sic) are people out there waiting to jump at everything I say on here or anywhere.”
Blake added that he wants to lend his support to help GLAAD’s causes too, writing, “@glaad hey I want my fans and @nbcthevoice fans to know that anti-gay and lesbian violence is unacceptable!!!!! Help me!!!!”
Backing Blake up was NBC’s “The Voice,” which left a message for GLAAD on their Twitter page.
“@glaad listen to us #thevoice when we tell you that @BlakeShelton is all about love, laughter, music, @AdamLevine and no hate. #teamblake,” the show Tweeted.
