Mariah Carey is living a “Sweet Sweet Fantasy.”
In addition to her engagement to beau James Packer, the
powerhouse singer just wrapped the latest leg of her smash Las Vegas residency
and will next embark upon her first European tour in 13 years next month.
In an exclusive interview with Access Hollywood
correspondent Scott Evans, a glowing Mariah opened up about being at the top of
her game personally and professionally.
But first, that ring!

“with pride and happiness,” the mom of two joked about the attention
her brand-new bling is getting.

“Walking through a crowd with a ring on your finger and
a lot of bracelets is a little bit, you know, daunting,” she laughed.
“But it’s hard to take it off cause I love it so
much,” she added.
When it comes to wedding plans, Mariah said that while she
and James are looking to keep things “very private” and won’t be
hosting “tons of people,” the event will still showcase her trademark
glamour.
“I’m most excited about the grandeur, darling,”
Mariah smiled, clarifying that she and James are focusing on quality over
quantity for their special day.

“It’s not gonna be a big
wedding,” she said. “But it’s going to be grand.”
Adding, “I think the most important thing is the
relationship and, you know, just the connection. The love it of all. That’s the
most important thing, but of course I love a grand moment.”
While Mariah is keeping the details of James’ proposal to
herself for now, she did say she was “surprised” when the Australian
billionaire popped the question – and she preferred it that way.
“Darling, it’s my engagement ring, we can’t know when
it’s coming,” she told Scott with a smile. “We just have to receive
it.”
Besides walking down the aisle, Mariah is also excited to
hit the road.
“There’s a lot of nights, there’s a lot of cities,
there’s a lot of people and I’m just looking for a lot of joy,” she said
of her international tour.
“There’s something about doing both of those things,”
she said of performing across the globe and on the Las Vegas stage, “But
my favorite thing is being in the studio and recording and writing music.”
As for when fans can expect new songs, the superstar said
she wants to take her time perfecting an album.

However, she teased, “You’re going to be seeing at
least another single soon.”
Mariah’s “Sweet Sweet Fantasy” international tour
kicks off on March 15, and her “#1 to Infinity” Las Vegas residency
resumes in June at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
