“The Goldbergs” will channel another John Hughes film in their upcoming Season 4 premiere.
Access Hollywood can exclusively reveal that the ABC comedy will pay tribute to the John Hughes classic “The Breakfast Club” when the show returns on September 21 at 8 PM ET/PT.
All three Goldberg kids – Adam (Sean Giambrone), Barry (Troy Gentile) and Erica (Hayley Orrantia) – will find themselves in detention on a Saturday, just like “The Breakfast Club” teens.
Beverly (Wendi McLendon-Covey) and Murray Goldberg (Jeff Garlin) and Principal Ball (Stephen Tobolowsky) are also involved in the episode.
“The Goldbergs” previously paid homage to Hughes’ “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” as well as other ’80s films “Risky Business” and “Dirty Dancing.”
