Healthy Hollywood: The Secrets To Mandy Moore’s Success

We’ve all heard the motto, “Early to bed, early to rise makes a man (or women) healthy, wealthy and wise.”

Well, that’s actress/singer Mandy Moore’s go-to rule.

“I never really experienced that part of my life where I wanted to go out and stay out super late. I’ve always been quiet and kind of boring. But, I don’t’ apologize for it anymore. I go to bed early and I wake up early. I feel most productive during the day. I need to start my day right and I’m going to get the bulk of my day done before noon,” she tells Healthy Hollywood.

Healthy Hollywood is also a go to bed/get up early kind of gal. It’s rare than I’m not in bed by 10. I know it is lame. I’m certainly not a great date to watch a movie with after 9 – count on me to be asleep on the couch. But, I’ve come to accept that’s my natural rhythm.

According to studies, early to rise is one of the many habits of the successful and healthy. After all, morning hours have been shown to be the best time to work out, there are fewer distractions in the morning to keep you from getting things done and you simply have more energy in the morning.

“I make sure to get plenty of sleep, drink water and I use sunscreen. I try and follow those rules to the best of my ability,” notes Mandy. “I try and prioritize what’s important and not judging self if I can’t get to the gym every day or if I’m not keeping in touch with people to the best of my ability. I try to take it easy on myself and of course, get lots of sleep.”

Mandy puts some of that extra energy into helping out animal causes, especially working with rescue shelters for cats. She and her husband, singer Ryan Adams, have adopted four indoor cats and also rescued three outdoor cats. So, it makes sense that she’s teamed up with Purina Cat Chow and their Building Better Lives campaign, which is working to donate needed funds to shelters nationwide. The cat food company has already donated $275,000 to 50 different cat shelters – one in each state. And, they hope to get 1,500 cat lovers to share their rescue stories and they’ll donate another $50,000.

Mandy declares there’s nothing better than a good night’s sleep and the unconditional love of her cats.

“They love you no matter what. It doesn’t matter what you look like, what kind of day you had or what you do, they’re always going to be there and love you unconditionally,” she adds.
