Jennifer Lawrence On Conquering ‘Mockingjay’ Singing Nerves

Fans of Jennifer Lawrence’s talents are excited to hear the actress’ singing voice in the upcoming “Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1,” but J.Law was anything but excited when it came time to lend her pipes to the on-screen song.

So how did Jennifer conquer her public singing fears?

“I had no choice! I, you know, that’s the only way I did it,” the actress told Dave Karger of Fandango’s Weekend Ticket in a new interview, of a “Mockingjay” scene in which her character (Katniss Everdeen) sings a song called “The Hanging Tree.” “I literally would never have done it. I was genuinely and honestly contractually obligated to sing and that is the only way they got that out.”

“Lack of choice – one of the best ways to get over fear,” added Jennifer’s “Mockingjay” co-star Josh Hutcherson.

Jennifer’s other co-star, Liam Hemsworth (who in a previous interview, complained about kissing Jennifer), praised J.Law’s musical talents.

“It did turn out great for you though,” Liam told Jennifer. “Your voice sounded well, as much as you hated it and it was stressful and everything, it turned out well!”

Catch Jennifer, Liam and Josh in “Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1” when it hits theaters on November 21.
