Kate Winslet, Sam Mendes Split

Kate Winslet and director Sam Mendes have called it quits, Access Hollywood has confirmed.

In a statement to Access on Monday, the couple’s attorney confirmed the couple split earlier this year.

“Kate and Sam are saddened to announce that they separated earlier this year,” attorney Keith Schilling said in a statement. “The split is entirely amicable and is by mutual agreement. Both parties are fully committed to the future joint parenting of their children. They ask that the media respect the privacy of the family.”

Schilling added there would be no further comment from the couple.

Kate and Sam began dating in 2001 before tying the knot in a Caribbean wedding ceremony in May 2003.

The couple has one child together – 6-year-old son Joe. Kate also has a 9-year-old daughter, Mia, from her previous marriage to Jim Threapleton.

Kate last starred in a pair of 2008 dramas — “Revolutionary Road” with Leonardo DiCaprio (and directed by Mendes), and “The Reader,” for which she won the Oscar for Best Actress.

She currently has several projects in development, including the romance “Which Brings Me To You,” co-starring Bradley Cooper; and the period piece drama “The Magician’s Wife,” alongside Geoffrey Rush.

Sam’s directing credits include “Away We Go,” “Revolutionary Road,” “Jarhead,” “Road To Perdition” and “American Beauty.”

He is currently helming the as-of-yet untitled 23rd James Bond film starring Daniel Craig.
