Nick Carter Speaks Out For First Time Since Arrest: ‘It Can Be A Struggle’

Nick Carter is hoping to learn from his mistakes.

The Backstreet Boys singer has broken his silence after being arrested on a misdemeanor battery charge earlier this month, issuing an apology and asking fans to “stay by my side” as he strives to move forward.

“I am human and at times it can be a struggle to balance a healthy lifestyle,” he Tweeted on Saturday. “I’m not perfect and for that I am sorry.”

The 35-year-old continued, saying he doesn’t intend to let the incident hold him back from seeking personal growth.

“When we fall we have to get up and keep on walking,” he wrote. “I hope you stay by my side and continue to walk with me.”

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Carter was taken into custody on Jan. 13 after an alleged altercation at Hog’s Breath Saloon in Key West, Fla.

His past brushes with the law include a 2005 drunk driving charge, to which he pled guilty and was ordered to a three-month alcohol treatment program.

The “Dancing with the Stars” runner-up does have happy news on the horizon. He and wife Lauren Kitt are expecting their first child together, a boy, this coming spring.
