Nicole Scherzinger Cast In ABC’s ‘Dirty Dancing’ Remake

Nicole Scherzinger is
about to get a little “Dirty”!

The former Pussycat Doll
and “X Factor” judge will join ABC’s remake of the 1987 romantic drama “Dirty
Dancing,” Access Hollywood has learned.

According to Lionsgate, the studio behind the production for ABC, Nicole is taking on the role of dance instructor Penny alongside
previously announced stars Abigail Breslin and Colt Prattes. Cynthia Rhodes portrayed the character in the original feature film.

A premiere date has yet
to be announced for the three-hour musical event, also set to feature Debra
Messing as Marjorie Houseman, mother to Abigail’s heroine, Baby.

Newcomer Colt, best
known from his appearance in Pink’s music video for “Try,” is filling
the shoes Patrick Swayze made famous as Johnny Castle.

The production also
includes Tony-winning “Hamilton” choreographer Andy
Blankenbuehler and “Glee” music producers Adam Anders and Peer Astrom, while original
“Dirty Dancing” screenwriter Eleanor Bergstein will serve as an
executive producer.

This televised update
won’t be the first time Nicole’s showed off her moves on ABC.

The songstress won
Season 10 of the network’s celebrity competition smash “Dancing with the Stars” in 2010, with partner Derek Hough.
