Reba McEntire Opens Habitat For Humanity Project

Reba McEntire helped Whirlpool Corp. and
Habitat for Humanity kick off a weeklong construction blitz.

“I am so thankful to the 300 volunteers who are here this week to raise walls for these 10 deserving families,” the 51-year-old country star said in a statement Sunday.

The volunteers will work through Friday to build 10 homes in the Providence Park neighborhood, the city’s first all-Habitat for Humanity subdivision.

Whirlpool officials said construction of a single Habitat home in Nashville typically takes eight days spread across four weekends.

McEntire called the Whirlpool Building Blocks initiative “a tremendous example of organizations and individuals working together to improve lives and communities across the country.”

Whirlpool said it plans to launch similar weeklong building blitzes in other communities.

McEntire’s many hits include “Whoever’s in New England,” “Fancy” and “The Nights the Lights Went Out in Georgia.”

She also stars in the TV show “Reba.”
