Production on “The White Princess,” the follow up to “The White Queen,” has begun, Starz announced on Monday.
Additionally, several new castings were announced for the series, which is based on Philippa Gregory’s best-seller of the same name.
Joining previously announced cast members Michelle Fairley (who is playing Margaret Beaufort) and Jodie Comer (who is playing Princess Elizabeth), is Jacob Collins-Levy as Henry VII, who has to marry the young princess to secure his throne.
Essie Davis is playing the Dowager Queen Elizabeth (aka “The White Queen”).
Joanne Whalley is playing Lizzie’s aunt, the Duchess of Burgundy, while Suki Waterhouse is playing Cecily of York, Lizzie’s younger, jealous sister. Rebecca Benson is playing Cecily and Lizzie’s cousin, Margaret Plantagenet.
Other cast members include Rhys Connah as Teddy, Caroline Goodall as Duchess Cecily, Kenneth Cranham as Bishop Morton and Vincent Regan as Jasper Tudor.
Emma Frost is the show’s showrunner and executive producer, while Jamie Payne will direct the series and serve as a producer.
“The White Princess” will shot in Bristol and around the UK. A premiere date for the 8-episode limited series has not yet been set.
