Val Kilmer Posts Confusing ‘Top Gun 2’ Message, Teases ‘Wonderful Call’ From Agent

Val Kilmer may or may not
have signed on for a possible “Top Gun” sequel…

The actor – who played
Iceman in the original film – teased in a series of
Facebook posts on Tuesday, and to be honest, we’re still a bit confused.

“I just got offered ‪#‎topgun2 –
not often you get to say ‘yes’ without reading the script… ‘It’s starring Gene
Hackman…’ ‘Yes,'” he wrote late Monday night, sending the Internet into
a tailspin. “‘The director is Francis Coppola…’ ‘Yes!’ They aren’t
involved in this production. These are
examples of what an actor says yes to- like Jerry
Bruckheimer and Tom Cruise!!! ‘Yes.'”

Val concluded the “Huh?”-inducing post by paying his respects
to “Top Gun” director Tony Scott, who passed away in 2012.

“We will all miss Tony Scott one of the kindest gentlemen I’ve ever
met in the film biz, but let’s fire up some fighter jets again!!! This is a
long way off so calm down. This has been talked about for a long long time and
being offered a role is very different from doing a role,” he wrote.
“I jumped the gun with my post. I jumped the topgun… An innocent
mistake. It was just such a wonderful phone call with my agent…”

On Tuesday, Val clarified
in a new post that Gene Hackman and Francis Coppola are “not
involved” in the proposed “Top Gun 2.”

“Francis
Coppola and Gene Jackman are examples of what an actor says ‘yes’ to. They are
not involved. So sorry for the misunderstanding,” he wrote.

Last
year, Tom Cruise told Access Hollywood that he and Jerry Bruckheimer
“working on” a sequel to the 1986 movie.

“If we can figure it
out it’ll be a lot of fun,” Tom told Access back in May 2014. “I’d
like to get back in those jets if we could figure the story out.”
