Naomi Ackie Explains How She Prepared To Sing Like Whitney Houston For Upcoming Biopic

It’s hard work transforming into music icon Whitney Houston! Naomi Ackie, who portrays the Grammy winner in the upcoming biopic about her life “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” told Access Hollywood how she prepared to sing like the legend. “I had to practice to kind of be able to convincingly mime along with Whitney Houston,” she said. Although most of the singing came from Whitney, the 30-year-old British actress did sing in some scenes, and director Kasi Lemmons told Access how audiences can tell when it’s Naomi’s voice. “Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody” is exclusively in movie theaters Dec. 23.
