Naomi Ackie Says Whitney Houston’s Music ‘Was There To Inspire Her’ While Portraying Her In Biopic

“Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” a biopic about the late music legend, is nearly a week away from hitting theaters! Access Hollywood spoke to Naomi Ackie, who portrays Whitney, at the movie’s premiere, and she shared how she’s feeling ahead of the release. “I am so nervous, and yet like there is a spirit that is a fighting energy that film gave me when I was making it that hasn’t died. I was, like, wait, I got this. Whitney’s here. Her music was there to inspire me whenever I needed it,” she said. “Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody” is out nationwide on Dec. 23.
