Lady Gaga Gushes Over Her & Bradley Cooper’s Golden Globe Nominations: ‘I Couldn’t Be More Happy’

Lady Gaga has a lot to celebrate!

The pop star-turned-actress’ hit film, “A Star Is Born,” raked in five 2019 Golden Globe nominations on Thursday morning.

While the Hollywood Foreign Press Association chose the movie for one of its Best Motion Picture – Drama slots, the group also gave an individual nod to Gaga (for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama) and two to Bradley Cooper (for Best Director – Motion Picture and Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama).

“Shallow,” the heart-pounding ballad Gaga and Bradley sing in the blockbuster, was also nominated for Best Original Song – Motion Picture.

“I’m so grateful for all of the nominations for A Star Is Born today!” Gaga gushed in an appreciative Instagram Stories post on Thursday afternoon. “The film has truly been a passion project for everyone involved and we’ve all become a family.”

“I couldn’t be more happy to see Bradley recognized for his incredible vision and performance,” she continued. “And for the recognition for my songwriting collaboration with the amazing Mark [Ronson], Anthony [Rossomando] and Andrew [Wyatt] for ‘Shallow.’ And I can’t believe I’m nominated as best actress at the Golden Globes for a film! 😭 I am so appreciative of the HFPA’s support. Thank you so much.”

Bradley, who is now a four-time Globe nominee, also expressed his appreciation for the film’s recognition.

“I am very grateful ‘A Star Is Born’ has touched so many people and to the Hollywood Foreign Press for recognizing our film with such abundance,” he said in a statement. “I’ve wanted to tell stories through film for as long as I can remember, and I feel lucky even to have had the opportunity to do that – to be included in a community of such inspiring artists is incredibly humbling.  A huge congrats to all of this morning’s nominees and especially to my dear friend, Lady Gaga.”

Gaga is up against Glenn Close (“The Wife”), Nicole Kidman (“Destroyer”), Melissa McCarthy (“Can You Ever Forgive Me?”) and Rosamund Pike (“A Private War”) for the Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama trophy.
