Penn Badgley Calls ‘You’ Ending ‘Perfect’: ‘It’s Compelling’

Penn Badgley’s time as Joe Goldberg is coming to an end.

The 38-year-old has been playing the fictional villain since 2018 but after five seasons the show is coming to an end, and the “Gossip Girl” alum told Access Hollywood’s guest correspondent Emily Orozco the ending is “perfect.”

“I think a lot of brilliant shows maybe don’t stick the ending and that’s fine,” he said. “Maybe that’s not what it’s about… With us, I think it was really important because it is about the ending. It’s like what are we trying to say about this man. What have we been trying to say all along. What has this all been for.”

For Penn, he told Access the show really nailed the finale.

“I love the way we’ve ended it. I think it’s responsible, it’s compelling, it’s dramatically and emotionally resonant,” he said.

Season 5 of “You” starts streaming on Netflix April 24.
