Caitlyn Jenner Breaks Silence On Sophia Hutchins’ Sudden Death At 29: ‘It’s So Difficult’
Caitlyn Jenner is speaking out on a sad and sudden personal loss. The former Olympian made her first public remarks on the death of longtime friend and manager Sophia Hutchins, who passed away in an ATV accident over the summer. She was just 29. Caitlyn reflected on the tragedy in a Fox News segment on Aug. 28 while sharing her reaction to the horrific Minneapolis school shooting that left two children dead the previous day. “Just recently, my good friend Sophia passed away in a tragic accident. For the last seven weeks, I’ve been dealing with death, and it’s so difficult,” she began, before expressing her sympathy for those impacted by the shooting. “Here I am dealing with my grief, and I just can’t even imagine parents who dropped their kid off at school and, like that father just said, ‘I’ll never get a chance to talk to him again,'” she added, appearing to tear up. “That is just so horrible. … I’ve been dealing with grief, and these people have a long road ahead of them, and they’re going to be dealing with grief also.” The reality star’s comments come nearly two months after Sophia died in a crash close to Caitlyn’s Malibu residence. Police said Sophia was driving an ATV that rear-ended another vehicle before veering off a 350-foot cliff. She and Caitlyn had been close for years and consistently denied their relationship was ever romantic, despite speculation to the contrary. Sophia was the CEO and director of the Caitlyn Jenner foundation and founded the sunscreen company LUMASOL. Caitlyn previously described the Pepperdine University grad as “one of the top minds in her field.”
