‘Devil Wears Prada’s’ Real-Life Emily Breaks Silence On Feeling Betrayed By Hit 2003 Book
The wait is over! “The Devil Wears Prada 2” hits theaters on May 1 and is already on track to have a massive $75 million opening weekend in the U.S. alone. That number comes as a stylist and former Vogue employee identifies herself as the real-life “Emily” – two decades after the character played by Emily Blunt first hit screens! Leslie Fremar was Anna Wintour’s assistant at Vogue back in the late ’90s. She would eventually hire Lauren Weisberger, the author of “The Devil Wears Prada” book on which the movie is based. Now, on “The Run Through with Vogue” podcast, Leslie recalls the harrowing moment Anna told her about Lauren’s 2003 novel and why it felt “like a betrayal” at the time.
