Meghan Markle Reveals Sentimental Anniversary Gift From Prince Harry During At-Home Celebration
Meghan Markle is giving fans a glimpse of her and Prince Harry’s eight-year wedding anniversary celebrations! On Tuesday, May 19, the Duchess of Sussex shared how the couple marked their special day at home with their kids, Archie and Lilibet. In an Instagram story, Meghan uploaded a sweet video of her husband bringing a cake with lit candles as he and their children sing, “Happy Anniversary to mama!” The As Ever founder then chimed in saying, “And papa!” The next video showed Harry inching closer with the cake to Meghan, who tells him “I love you,” before they kiss and blow out the candles. She additionally posted a photo of the pair kissing next to the sweet treat as she noted that it was lemon elderflower cake – the same flavor from their 2018 wedding cake. Plus, the 44-year-old shared a clip of her reaction to Harry’s gift, a statue of two penguins, which she explained holds sentimental meaning to the couple that dates back to their engagement. “What?! Oh my God,” Meghan gasped, before telling their kids, “When mama and papa – when we got engaged, we had a party with all of our friends and we said, ‘Everyone wear an animal onesie.’ And we were penguins. We were penguins because they’re together for life.” Meghan then held up a printed image of a mirror selfie of the two dressed in their penguin attire at the time, which she also uploaded a photo of in a follow up slide. Plus, the Duchess of Sussex shared picture of a card the couple received from a British Airways crew who sent well wishes to them on their anniversary. “Thanks to this amazing flight crew for all the love yesterday! Appreciate all your memories and kind words @british_airways,” she wrote alongside a United Kingdom flag emoji. Harry and Meghan tied the knot on May 19, 2018.
