Michael B. Jordan Calls ‘Sinners’ A Love Letter To His Grandparents

Access Hollywood’s Scott Evans spoke to Michael B. Jordan on the Critics’ Choice Awards carpet about being in “Sinners,” the most nominated film of the evening. The actor shared how he spent his New Years, “I was out by myself, I just got back from shooting ‘Thomas Crowne’ in London so I have been gone for the past year so I wanted some peace and quiet, so I went on my first solo trip to Japan so I just spent my time there.” Adding that his favorite part of the trip was having no questions asked and just having the time reflect. Michael also got personal about “Sinners” and how it made him think about his family history, “You’re on those sets that resemble that Jim Crow era…there is a bit of that, this is what my grandparents and great-grandparents were doing, the movie turned out to be a love letter to them and a tribute to their courage and what they went through.”
