Sister Jean, Beloved Loyola Chaplain Who Went Viral During Team’s Final Four Run, Dead At 106
A life well lived! Sister Jean Dolores Schmidt passed away on Oct. 9 at 106 years old. She was the longtime chaplain for the Loyola University Chicago men’s basketball team, and the world fell in love with her during the Ramblers’ unexpected 2018 Final Four run. At age 99, she became the star of the show during March Madness and captured hearts as a fixture on the sidelines and for her famous pre-game prayers. Known for her faith, guidance and quick wit, Sister Jean leaned into her celebrity and was also an Access Hollywood favorite!
