NEW YORK (December 12, 2006) — For months, we’ve seen lots of Far East footage of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie dressed down in the streets of Pune, India and Mumbai.
But on Monday night in New York, they reminded all of us how down right glamorous they are as they arrived hand-in-hand to the premiere of Jolie’s new film “The Good Shepherd.”
And while unmarried, the two made it very clear they were very much together as they gave every photographer in New York something sweet to snap at, as a flash bulb bonanza captured the first official red carpet appearance of the two as a couple.
Access Hollywood’s Tim Vincent strolled down Manhattan’s 54th Street with the smiling couple as they waved to fans before making their way into the premiere.
“How does it feel to get back on American soil after all of your globetrotting?” Tim asked Angelina.
“It’s nice and I love New York so we’re happy to be here,” a gorgeous Angelina beamed.
Wearing Reem Acra, Angelina reminded us all why she’s still one of the most glamorous women in the world.
“How long are you spending here before you go on your travels again?” Tim asked.
“We head off in a week-and-a-half,” she revealed.
“To?”
“I’m not telling you,” Angelina laughed.
But still, our man Tim was undeterred.
“There’s lots of speculation with you and Brad and what’s been happening. I spoke to George Clooney last week and he offered his opinion,” Tim said before pausing. “Who is the better pilot?”
“Aww, you’re sweet,” Angelina said with a big smile. “We are actually pretty evenly matched.”
“Oh, you’re just being nice,” Tim insisted.
“No we are. He is better at the weight and balance and the checks and I’m a little more impulsive, so we fly as each other’s co-pilots and we are very balanced,” Jolie explained.
“Just like marriage,” Tim interjected.
“We are working it out,” she laughed.
Tim asked Angelina about her upcoming interview in Vogue where she opened up about her relationship with Brad.
“You said in here that you don’t want to ruin a good thing because you two get along so well together. Is that why you are just holding off on the marriage question?” Tim asked.
“It’s just not as important to us. It’s not what we talk about,” a candid Jolie admitted.
But Angelina did talk about most everything else in January’s Vogue, including a pregnancy-induced ill spell on the set of “The Good Shepherd,” co-starring Matt Damon and Robert De Niro, who also directed the film.
“Robert De Niro said he did bring you a banana when you felt faint on the set,” Tim noted. “When did you actually tell him you were pregnant?”
“I fell faint in the middle of singing Christmas carols and then I felt really bad I thought I was confessing to the Godfather that I’ve done something terribly wrong and I just said ‘Bob, I think I’m pregnant,’” Angelina revealed.
And how did De Niro respond to the news?
“He was like a man who has had many, many kids,” Angelina said. “He was great. He ran and got me some food. He was really supportive. He was lovely.”
Ironically, both Angelina and co-star Matt Damon’s wife Luciana had the same due date.
Tim asked Matt about the prenatal coincidence.
“Was there something in the water on the set?” Tim joked.
“No. I mean, Angie and I had that love scene and ya know?I’m not saying, I’m just saying,” Damon grinned.
“The Good Shepherd” hits theaters December 22.
