Ariana Grande is saying “thank u, next” to her turbulent year.
In the early hours of New Year’s Eve, the “Breathin” singer posted an uplifting message to her fans, while also hinting at the heartache she faced over the past 12 months.
“Farewell 2018, you f***,” she bluntly began, captioning a photo of herself staring at the camera. “I hope this new year brings you all much laughter, clarity healing. 🖤 Be gentle with yourselves and each other.”
“If we made it thru this last year, we’ll for sure make it thru this one,” she continued. “Thank you for everything. 🖤”
After Ariana shared her NYE wishes, the artist’s loved ones chimed in with their support.
“Thank U, next! 2019 will be a magnificent year! I love you!!” her mother, Joan Grande, wrote in the comments.
“Proud of you,” her manager, Scooter Braun, replied.

2018 has handed Ariana a breakneck series of ups and downs.
In May, the former “Sam & Cat” star announced she had split from boyfriend Mac Miller after more than two years together.
“I respect and adore him endlessly and am grateful to have him in my life in any form, at all times, regardless of how our relationship changes or what the universe holds for each of us!” she wrote on her Instagram Story at the time.

In the following weeks, Ariana defended her choice to end things with Mac. She also went public with a new relationship with Pete Davidson, which turned into an engagement merely a month later.
After the big proposal, the couple continued to get serious fast: buying an NYC pad (and a pet pig) together, getting love-inspired tattoos, and making X-rated jokes about their sex life on social media.
In August, the “God is a Woman” songstress dropped her much-anticipated album, “Sweetener,” and she included a song named after her fiancé.

Ariana mourned her ex’s sudden passing on Instagram and subsequently dropped out of talks to appear on the season premiere of “SNL” due to “emotional reasons.”
By October, Pete and Ariana had broken up. Following the split, Ariana released her singlehood anthem, “Thank U, Next,” which name-dropped both the comedian, Mac and other exes.
The 2018 Billboard Woman of the Year finished 2018 at the top of her professional game, but she appeared to continue to have tumultuous relations with Pete.
Earlier this month, the “Set It Up” actor scared friends and fans when he wrote that he did not “want to be on this earth anymore” on Instagram. The troubling post came after he received a slew of post-breakup hate on social media – and after Ariana weighed in on Kanye West’s tweets about mental health.
In the hours after Pete’s alarming message, Ariana visited 30 Rockefeller Center to see her ex at work, but the “SNL” star reportedly refused to see her.
