Healthy Hollywood: Fab Food Friday – Rebecca Romijn’s Recipe For The Good Life!

“I’m really not about deprivation. If I want a piece of pie, I mean, come on – you have to enjoy life! Especially if you have kids. I usually keep Sunday for whatever-you-want-to-eat-day,” reveals Rebecca Romijn in the July/August issue of Health magazine.

At 39, the actress says “life is good.” She’s celebrating five years of marriage to actor Jerry O’Connell. The couple is happily raising three-and-a-half-year-old twin girls. And, they know how to work out any marital tension, revealing, “Riding a tandem bike became the best mental therapy you could possibly ask for. We would always come back completely different – in sync, the team again.”
In next month’s Health, Rebecca also shares her recipe for staying fit and full of energy.

For starters, she cut down on her wine drinking. Now, she and Jerry enjoy a yummy non-alcoholic drink.

“Our house cocktail is something that’s based on the mocktail I made when I was pregnant. It’s the most delicious lemonade ever! And in the heat, it’s the best thing you can drink, because it’s hydrating you with the electrolytes in the water.”

Her recipe: simply combine 1 glass of coconut water plus one-half to 1 full lemon squeezed into it.

Rebecca keeps her model shape by trying to eat a clean diet and her new favorite recipe is roasted vegetables with parmesan and olive oil. But, if she’s feeling a craving to splurge, an apple is her go-to cure.

“If you’re sitting in front of the TV and just want something to munch on, I’ll go for an apple. Refrigerated Fuji apples, nice, crisp, sweet. Man I love ‘em. Eating apples is good on so many levels. There’s fiber in the skin that’s really good for you. It helps with digestion and helps you absorb all the nutrients of everything you’ve eaten that day. Apples are a really good thing.”

She’s also shares with Health her favorite way to blast fat.

“There’s a cranberry flaxseed water recipe I drink. I’ll make a liter of it and try to get through that in a day.” Just mix I cup of unsweetened cranberry juice + 2 tbsp of ground flaxseed + water to fill a 1-liter bottle. Be sure to shake it up every time you drink it to be sure to get some of the flax.
