Imagine lying down on a bed of nails! Sounds relaxing and therapeutic, right?
Healthy Hollywood was skeptical when I received a mat that mimics the ancient Indian healing bed of nails and was being hailed as a great stress-reliever. Surprisingly, stretching out on thin mattress covered with over 8,000 plastic nails is an incredible, body/mind altering therapy. Once, you get over the initial poking, the bed of nails is deeply relaxing. Think of it as a home-spun acupuncture treatment.
And, it’s not just Healthy Hollywood who ends the day resting on a bed of nails. Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez and Kate Beckinsale all love it!
“There are many benefits and an increased wellbeing people experience when using it! The pressure evens out when you actually lie down on it. Since there are so many points (over 8000) on a larger area, your weight levels out over the nails. Just sit down in front of the Bed of Nails and slowly lower your upper body onto Bed of Nails. The first couple of minutes it might feel a bit sharp (many people enjoy that) , but then your body starts heating up and you might feel a tingling sensation – after a little while most people start relaxing,” explains the crew over at Bed of Nails.
The Bed of Nails folks recommend using it every day for at least 10 minutes. “The effects from Bed of Nails may vary from person to person, but most people testify to feeling more relaxed, less tense, sleeping better etc.”
While, it will certainly rejuvenate your sense, here are 10 other alleged benefits:
- Increase energy.
- Reduce stress and anxiety.
- Reduce cellulite.
- Alleviate headache.
- Improve sleep.
- Benefit weight loss by reducing cortisol levels.
- Reduce blood pressure.
- Relieve chronic neck and back pain.
- Improve skin complexion.
- Improve circulation.
