“High School Musical” star Vanessa Hudgens has apologized to her fans for a nude photograph of the 18-year-old, which circled the internet earlier this week.
“I want to apologize to my fans, whose support and trust means the world to me,” the starlet wrote in a statement released today. “I am embarrassed over this situation and regret having ever taken these photos. I am thankful for the support of my family and friends.”
The National Enquirer was the first to report on the photograph, which was picked up on various blog sites across the web.
Thursday afternoon, Hudgens rep confirmed the photo did feature the petite brunette.
“This was a photo which was taken privately,” a statement from Hudgens’ rep read. “It is a personal matter and it is unfortunate that this has become public.”
Despite the photograph, Hudgens is currently in negotiations with Disney for “HSM 3” a rep confirmed to the Associated Press.
“Vanessa has apologized for what was obviously a lapse in judgment,” Disney Channel spokeswoman Patti McTeague told the AP. “We hope she’s learned a valuable lesson.”
Hudgens is currently dating her “HSM” co-star, Zac Efron.
