Jon Bernthal Cast As The Punisher In ‘Daredevil’

Marvel’s “Daredevil” has found its Frank Castle.

Jon Bernthal has been cast as The Punisher on the Netflix series, Marvel announced on Tuesday.

“Jon Bernthal brings an unmatched intensity to every role he takes on, with a potent blend of power, motivation and vulnerability that will connect with audiences,” Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television, said in a statement. “Castle’s appearance will bring dramatic changes to the world of Matt Murdock and nothing will be the same.”

Jon, who played Shane on “The Walking Dead,” took to Twitter to thank fans for their support of his casting.

The Punisher was most recently played by Ray Stevenson in 2008’s “Punisher: War Zone.”

Thomas Jane also played the character in 2004’s big screen version and Dolph Lundgren first portrayed the vigilante in 1989.

Season 2 of “Daredevil,” which stars Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Rosario Dawson and Elden Henson, will premiere on Netflix in 2016.
