Lady Gaga On Bad Boyfriends & Being ‘Delusionally Ambitious’

Lady Gaga has money, fame, awards and more than 8 million albums sold to her credit, but she told Cosmopolitan magazine that one of her former boyfriends never thought she’d amount to much.

“I had a boyfriend who told me I’d never succeed, never be nominated for a Grammy, never have a hit song, and that he hoped I’d fail,” she revealed to the April 2010 issue of the mag. “I said to him, ‘Someday, when we’re not together, you won’t be able to order a cup of coffee at the f***ing deli without hearing or seeing me.’”

Her words, of course, have come true, and now, the international superstar has plenty of suitable suitors. In fact, in true Cosmo style, Gaga revealed she’s had plenty of love since she became famous.

“I wanted to sleep with as many rock ‘n’ roll guys as I could, and I’ve certainly had my fun,” she said. “But I was also calling old boyfriends or meeting new guys and riding around in lots of cars.”

Gaga, who the mag reported is single, did offer advice for a guy who wants to become her one and only.

“I’d tell a new boyfriend to hang on, because it’s going to be a bumpy ride,” she said.

In fact, Gaga admitted she’s focused on her career presently, and no man is likely to get in her way.

“Some women choose to follow men, and some women choose to follow their dreams,” she said. “If you’re wondering which way to go, remember that your career will never wake up and tell you that it doesn’t love you anymore.”

In fact, Gaga said her drive to succeed has occasionally confused people.

“I’ve always been delusionally ambitious to the point where people don’t understand me,” she said.
