Michael Fassbender’s upcoming film “Shame,” where he plays a sex addict opposite Carey Mulligan, has been slapped with an NC-17 rating – but according to the actor, the final product is much tamer than what he imagined it would be.
“I knew in 2008 what the subject matter was, [British director Steve McQueen] approached me about it,” Michael told Access Hollywood at Thursday’s GQ’s 2011 Men of the Year Party in Los Angeles. The actor was named as Breakout of the Year in the issue.
“My imagination was at work, so the end script was quite mild in comparison,” he said of the film, which has the actor going full frontal. “We had two years to mull over the idea, so I was prepared for the worst.”
As for rumors about the Irish-German actor starring in a “Robocop” remake, the 34-year-old said he’s game to suit up if everything aligns.
“Rumors are good, aren’t they?” he said with a grin. “I haven’t read a script yet, so I have no idea. I’m always open to anything.”
“Shame” hits theaters on December 2.
