Rebecca Hall In Talks For Marvel’s Iron Man 3

Rebecca Hall, best known for her roles in “The Town” and “Vicky Cristina Barcelona,” could take over the female role in “Iron Man 3” left vacant by Jessica Chastain.

According to Variety, the actress would play a scientist who develops nanotechnology that lands in the hands of terrorists.

The third “Iron Man” movie will reportedly borrow elements from the “Iron Man: Extremis” series, about how the hero deals with a virus that spreads through nanotechnology.

Jessica announced her departure from the Marvel project on Facebook, writing, “Sorry to say that ‘Iron Man 3’ isn’t going to work out. My schedule is jammed packed and I can’t fit anything else in. The press announced my possible attachment far too soon. I know many of you wanted me to be involved, and I’m so sorry to disappoint you. Hopefully there’ll be another Marvel film in my future.”

If Rebecca signs on, she’ll join Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce and Ben Kingsley, who is playing the villain.

“Iron Man 3” is slated to blast into theaters on May 3, 2013.
